Gardens 2007

We have five garden plots; lower garden, middle garden, upper garden, old garden and new garden.

Here is how the gardens are layed out on our property.

Old Garden

This garden was the first one we established in 2001 and is 40' x 60'. This area is primarily planted up with pumpkins.

Lower Garden

We started this garden area in 2004. This area is the lowest on our property and can be very wet so we generally leave this area for flowers and other miscellaneous crops. This year we have planted Zinnias, Sunflowers, a row of extra Peppers and Eggplant, a row of Bush Goliath Tomatoes, an extra row of Canteloupe, and fourth and fifth plantings of lettuce.

Middle Garden

This garden area was started in 2005 and is 85' x 50' and contains carrots, garlic, and peppers

Upper Garden

This is the second year we are planting in this area and is the first we get into in the spring. It primarily contains our spring and cool weather crops like lettuce, peas, spinach, cauliflower, broccoli, first planting of green beans, and onions. Here's Frank walking down the onion row.

New Garden

This is the first year we are planting in this area and is the largest at 100' x 120'. It contains the bulk of our main season crops. Cucumbers, tomatoes, eggplant, summer and winter squash, zuchinni, canteloupe and our second, third, fourth, and fifth plantings of green beans.
