What is a CSA?

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. Members of the community purchase "shares" of the season's harvest before the growing season. Shareholders pickup up their share of the harvest each week at the designated pickup locations. This arrangement provides the farmer with much needed financial stability at the beginning of the growing season and provides the shareholder with the freshest and highest quality produce.

The environmental and social repercussions of our food choices are crucial to consider in a society where most food travels thousands of miles before it reaches our tables. As a CSA shareholder you will be actively preserving local farms as well as enjoying the freshest, most affordable produce that is harvested for you daily.

More information on the definition and history of CSA's can be found here.

2010 Vegetable Share

There are two vegetable share options for the 2010 summer season, a full share costs $550 or a half share costs $300. Each week, a full share contains enough vegetables to feed a family of four or two vegetarian adults, while a half share contains enough vegetables to feed two adults who eat vegetables on a moderate basis. The season runs from mid-June thru October (approximately 19 weeks depending on growing conditions).

In our CSA distribution model, a re-usable grocery tote bag is pre-packed for you on a weekly basis. All the vegetables contained in the bag have been pre-sorted for grade A quality, field washed, bagged and weighed. All you need to do is bring back your re-usable tote bag from the previous week and pickup your new bag. There is no need to sort through bins trying to find the best tomato or having to weigh out your green beans, we have already done the work for you.

There are no work requirements when joining this CSA.

Please visit the Our Products page to find a list of all the different vegetable varieties that we will be growing this year. The Harvest Schedule shows approximate timeframe that each vegetable will be available.

2010 Fruit Share Add-On

This year we will be partnering with other local farmers to provide a fruit share add-on to the vegetable share. The cost for this add-on is $125. While this fruit is not organic it is grown using IPM practices and grown by farmers in our immediate area. With this add-on you will receive fruit for approximately a 15 week period to be picked up along with your vegetable share. The varieties of fruit planned for this year include strawberries, cherries, peaches, nectarines, plums, various melons, blueberries, and many varieties of apples. There is only one size for this add-on (no half shares).
